1/24/2020 0 Comments WINTER BEAUTY MUST-HAVE’sDry skin, you'll never be inWe are officially a month into winter + if you live in an area that gets cold during these icy winter months, you’ve probably noticed a change in your skin. When the air has a drop in humidity, it begins to pull water + moisture from our outermost layer of the skin... resulting in... dry, cracked, lovely winter skin. Regardless of all the ever-changing beauty trends... we can all agree on one, dry skin will never be in! I've compiled my favorite moisture-locking skincare + makeup ingredients from my favorite brands such as, herbivore, Elemis, Grown Alchemist and more to help you lock in moisture + keep your skin supple all winter long. Fresh Lip Balm
I love this balm. It instantly hydrates + refreshes lips without being overly sticky or heavy. The formula sets nicely into lips +immediately my lips feel softer. I love the slight Caramel tint of color since it works nicely with my natural lip shade. Glossier Generation G in Jam Glossier's generation g lippie is a favorite of mine because it feels more like a balm but is versatile to use for both natural and heavier makeup looks; a few lip taps adapts to your lip creating a subtle natural shading or with a full swipe, you can intensify the color for a bolder, darker matte finish lip. This product is hydrating, buildable, pigmented, easy to use and gorgeous in all 6 shade options. St.Tropez Self Tanner I have tried quite a few self tanners and out of them all, St.Tropez is the one I always go back to. I love that the color goes on dark so when applying using their mitt you see exactly where the color is being placed so you can easily adjust or wash away if needed. This is also the only self tanner i've used on my porcelain skin that doesn't turn orange or too dark (even in the dark level), there is also no muddy appearance or too much absorption in specific areas (i.e. upper lip). No one likes an orange mustache! PRO TIP: apply to hands + feet using a soft kabuki brush, like this $25 brush from Sigma. Using a brush like this will allow you to control placement of the product and pick up excess tanning product to give a soft, natural blend. Bobbi Brown Extra Eye Repair This is a product I didn't know I needed until I tried it. The caffeine helps to soothe puffy, tired eyes while increasing blood flow. The thicker formula needs to be warmed in the fingers before applying but the consistency of the cream locks in hydration and relieves tired, dull, dry eyes. This is one of the only eye creams that i've experienced no irritation when using. Herbivore Emerald CBD Oil This. stuff. is. gold. If you have ever considered this product, stop what you are doing and purchase i now. CBD in skincare has antibacterial + anti inflammatory properties as well as powerful antioxidants making it a non-toxic, clean alternative for redness/irritation, acne, psoriasis, rosacea and more. Herbivore's oil although being CBD free, has hemp seed which offers similar benefits relating to anti-aging and soothing properties. This oil provides rich moisture while calming redness, dry/cracked irritated skin and will leave your skin plump, supple and hydrated thanks to the omega 3's, sqaualane + other moisture binding ingredients. If you lean on the dry side with your skin or are blemish prone, this serum is for you! Coola Suncare Sun Silk Drops SPF 30 Using a daily SPF is an incredibly powerful anti-aging tool. Even in these cold, grey winter months, your skin is still being exposed to harmful UVA + UVB rays. In fact, due to the reflection off of the snow, etc., rays can actually be twice as harmful in the winter than the summer. SPF should always be the last step in your skincare, before you start your makeup routine. PRO TIP: if you were to use solely the spf found in makeup, you would need to apply routinely throughout the day + this doesn't give you full or lasting coverage so make sure you are using an actual SPF in your skincare routine! I love how luminous + silky these drops are, you will be hydrated, protected and have a radiant glow to start your morning with. Tarte Maracuja Oil Tarte's Maracuja Oil is my skin secret for perfect makeup application in the winter. This oil can help with oily skin types but is also a great step in your morning makeup routine for locking in moisture (or adding more of it) + giving a smooth, hydrated finish for makeup to be applied over. Say goodbye to dry, cracked flaking skin clinging to your foundation! This is a non-greasy formula that sets quickly + has vitamin c to boost radiance. Herbivore Pheonix Oil This is another dry skin savior during the winter months. Herbivore's Phoenix oil is formulated with numerous essential oils + antioxidants (aka CoQ10) making it a perfect anti-aging serum choice. This serum also helps balance skin, hydrate + fight against environmental damages. Grown Alchemist Regenerating Peptide Night Cream I absolutely love Grown Alchemist products. This night cream specifically is a dry skin savior in the winter months. This night cream has not only antioxidants + essential omega fatty acids to aid in skin elasticity but vitamins, peptides, and hyaluronic acid as well that provide added skin benefits relating to fine lines + wrinkles. My skin instantly feel more hydrates, supple and less dull, this is a night time staple for me when my skin become overly dry. PRO TIP: pair with your Herbivore emerald oil for an intense surge or hydration + to calm irritation/redness overnight. Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel This peel contains milk protein, antioxidant-rich vitamin E and marine algae to help reveal radiant skin while healing + protecting. Papaya and pineapple are nonabrasive exfoliant ingredients gentle enough for sensitive skin. I use this 2x weekly and instantly notice a less dull + more radiant appearance plus seriously smooth skin without being too drying in the winter! Dermaflash This is a skincare tool I truly believe is worth the hype and money. Dermaplaning removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells + pore-clogging peach fuzz resulting in a less dull appearance with decreased severity of fine lines as well as a softer and smoother overall complexion; this is also a secret tool for buttery soft, smooth makeup application. Dermaplaning also allows for product to absorb better into the skin, meaning you get the full benefits of your favorite skincare products without going to waste! Dermaflash is a gentle at home tool that can help your skin stay radiant and glowy even indoors during the winter month. I am obsessed and you will be too!
